SHURA
HAMDARD PESHAWAR, held on 13th July 2004
Monthly
meeting of Hamdard Majlis-e-Shura was arranged at Hotel Pearl
Continental, Peshawar on 13th July 2004. Speaker of Majlis-e-Shura
Dr. Abdul Mateen presided over the meeting. Deputy speaker Dr.
Ms. Barkat Awan was also present. The topic of discussion was
“Controlling of Law and Order Situation is a Pre-requisite
for Political & Economic Progress”.
Meeting
started with the recitation from the Holy Quran by Col®
Hameed Afridi.
Elaborating
topic of the day Dr. Abdul Mateen said that terrorism in any
form is bound to be condemned. No one can support terrorism
because when it starts it has no end to it and the result is
destruction only. He said that due to spread of terrorism worldas
a whole and our country in perticular is passing through a phase
of fear and uncertainty. Speaker said that in today’s
shura we have to identify causes of terrorism and how to root
it out.
Speaking
on the occasion Mian Akhtar Shafi said that we as a nation are
under the false notion that only wealth and economic well-being
give us peace and quality of life. While actually we should
strive to root out in-equality, corruption and other evils from
our society. Haji Mohammad Adeel speaking on the topic said
that we have equated Jihad with terrorism and suicidal attacks.
West has labeled Mujahideens as terrorists and we also have
accepted their version. He said that we must differentiate between
a terrorist and a Mujahid. Islam preaches and promotes peace
not terrorism. Zahid Abbasi giving his views said that for a
lasting peace in Pakistan, Kashmir issue should be resolved.
Yosuf
Raja Chishti Speaking on the topic said that whenever there
is terrorism in Pakistan we put all the blame on foreign agents,
but in my opinion our own sectarian organizations are promoting
hatred and communal disharmony in our society. Mr. Hameed Afridi
said that instead of pointing fingers at others we must improve
our own society. People are frustrated in many ways. We must
root out causes of frustration, only after that we can have
peace in society.
Professor
Khatir Ghaznavi said that this wave of terrorism was let loose
internationally after the 9/11 incident. Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Awan
speaking on this occasion said that we always discuss the causes
of terrorism and other evils of society but never suggest any
remedy for it.
Others
who also spoke in the shura were Mr. Akhtar Begana and Dr. Salahuddin.
